Calling 911
So, before we get into this blog post, it's a little scary. But I think it's worth being shared; if scary medical situations aren't your thing, please feel free to skip this one. I've got more coming- I promise.
Right now, I'm sitting next to my mom in the hospital; I'm terrified, and I can only write about what the experience of calling 911 in upstate new york was like. Now I'm a network nerd and deal with a lot of medical stuff, but this is the 2nd time in my life I've dialed the shortcode that connects me to my local PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point); let me tell you. dialing 911 in 2023 is incredible.
So a little backstory: I'm in Upstate New York and called via T-Mobile on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. My area doesn't have VoNR yet, so the call was transmitted over VoLTE- but as soon as the call connected, the operator knew my name, had a GPS lock (I was inside), and could get my mom help in under 3 minutes. All while I was effectively pooping myself.
So there you have it, one of the many innovations of modern cellular networks, one of the many features of your telephone!
Always remember: Keep the telephone of your mind forever transmitting thoughts of Love, Purity, Joy & Health. Then when Disease, Sorrow, Lust, or Hate try to call you, they will always get the Busy Signal. After a while, they might even forget your number.
I've been on many recent adventures to catch my blog up on. So I'll see you soon. For now, per usual.
Tootles, Shane
