Roaming
You’re off the beaten path, and your phone rings, and it’s someone who you enjoy. Someone who’s important, but you didn’t expect to have service in that area. But through complex roaming agreements you have service, and it’s usable. You’re used to your phone saying T-Mobile but it says AT&T. But the call goes through.
In the ye olde days the call may have begun by saying “Thank you for using Cellular One” but now you just get connected instantly, milliseconds between you and someone you love. I think land mobile systems are pretty neat that they can just sling your voice across the nation with little effort at an instant.
